Ford is continuing its push toward making electric vehicle (EV) ownership more accessible and convenient with the extension of its Ford Power Promise program. Originally launched in 2024 and extended multiple times due to positive reception, the program now runs through September 30, 2025. It offers new retail customers a complimentary Ford Connected Charge Station and standard home installation when they buy or lease a new 2025 Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, or E-Transit cargo van. This move is part of Ford’s broader effort to eliminate barriers to EV adoption—chief among them being home charging access.
Seamless Installation Through Trusted Providers
To ensure a smooth experience, Ford partners with Qmerit Electrification LLC to manage the installation process. Qmerit works with certified electricians across the country to handle the logistics and installation at customers’ homes. The installation must be completed by March 31, 2026. “Standard installation” includes key services like mounting and connecting the charger to the home’s electrical panel, assuming the panel is in the same structure as the charger and the home has a dedicated meter. While permitting fees are not included, the basic setup is covered, making it easier for most homeowners to get started with EV ownership.
Charging at Home: The Everyday Advantage
Ford’s data shows that 85% of EV charging is done at home, and the average U.S. driver travels only about 40 miles a day—well within the daily range of any Ford EV. Home charging offers not just convenience, but significant cost savings. Compared to gasoline refueling, charging a Mustang Mach-E at home can save at least $26 per session, and over $55 per session for larger models like the F-150 Lightning. Off-peak utility rates can push those savings even further, especially for customers who use smart charging schedules.
Customer testimonials highlight the impact of home charging. Feliks from Washington shares that his car is always “topped off and ready to go” each morning. Alan from Florida, a Mach-E owner, says that he charges mostly at home and doesn’t even think about range anymore—it’s like charging a phone. Dean from Texas takes advantage of a local utility program that offers free weekend electricity, allowing him to charge his vehicle for free during those times.
Long-Term Battery Confidence and Ownership Support
Ford’s battery technology is designed to hold up over time. The company provides an eight-year or 100,000-mile warranty on high-voltage batteries, and engineering tests suggest most batteries retain about 90% of their capacity even after 100,000 miles. That peace of mind is crucial for new EV buyers. Bill from Washington has already logged 18,000 miles in just six months with his F-150 Lightning and claims it’s the best vehicle he’s owned in nearly four decades of driving.
In addition to the hardware, Ford offers round-the-clock support for its EV customers. A team of live advisors is available by phone or text to help with everything from troubleshooting charging issues to locating nearby chargers. If an EV’s battery level drops dangerously low, Ford’s system can alert an advisor, who can proactively contact the owner and even dispatch roadside assistance. If the car needs to be towed, Ford will transport it to a home, public charger, or dealership—depending on the circumstances.
Public Charging and Smart Technology Integration
Ford EV owners also have access to the BlueOval Charge Network, which integrates many of North America’s leading public charging providers, including Electrify America and, with an adapter, even Tesla Superchargers. The FordPass app and in-vehicle navigation can help drivers locate chargers, plan efficient routes, and even handle payments automatically using Plug & Charge technology. This seamless experience removes much of the friction from using public charging infrastructure.
Beyond daily driving, Ford’s Pro Power Onboard feature allows models like the F-150 Lightning to serve as mobile generators. In Ohio, one owner used the Lightning to power a CPAP machine during a power outage, showing how the technology extends the value of the vehicle beyond transportation.
Positive Impact on EV Adoption
Since launching the Power Promise, Ford has installed over 10,000 home chargers across all 50 states. The initiative coincided with Ford’s best-ever EV sales quarter in Q4 of 2024. Media outlets like The Verge and Axios have credited the program with helping reduce consumer anxiety around charging and encouraging more people to consider going electric.
By addressing some of the biggest hurdles to EV ownership—namely home charging access and up-front installation costs—Ford’s Power Promise is not only providing tangible value to buyers but also reinforcing the company’s leadership in the evolving EV marketplace.
