Since its launch in October 2024, Ford’s electric vehicle support initiative, dubbed the Power Promise, has dramatically reshaped the EV ownership experience. Designed to remove charging obstacles for new EV buyers, it has now helped more than 12,000 customers across all 50 states establish home charging setups by mid-2025.
The core of the Power Promise program is both straightforward and compelling: retail customers who purchase or lease a new 2024 or 2025 Mustang Mach‑E, F‑150 Lightning, or E‑Transit Cargo Van from participating U.S. Ford dealers are eligible to receive a complimentary home charger along with standard installation. The “standard” installation typically covers up to 60 amps of electrical service and up to 80 feet of wiring, with Qmerit Electrification LLC as the preferred installer. The Power Promise has seen several extensions since its inception. Initially scheduled to end on January 2 2025, the offer was extended first through March 31 2025, then through the July 4 holiday weekend, and now continues through September 30 2025.
Ford reports that over 85 percent of these home charger installations were standard, meaning no additional cost was borne by the customers. Moreover, the average timeframe from installation quote to completion is just 11 days, with a remarkably high installation satisfaction rate of 96 percent. In addition to setting up home charging, Ford offers a raft of support and features aimed at enhancing EV ownership. The BlueOval™ Charge Network provides seamless access to public charging, including many Tesla Superchargers through fast‑charging adapters, helping to eliminate range anxiety. Charging can be located, routed, and paid for via Ford’s Connected Navigation, Apple EV Routing via CarPlay, Google Maps EV Routing via Android Auto, and the FordPass App, allowing customers to manage charging all through one platform.
Further bolstering confidence, Ford provides 24/7 live support through dedicated EV advisors, including roadside assistance with proactive charging help and towing to the nearest charging station if needed. The company also backs its battery durability with an 8‑year/100,000‑mile (or 160,000 km in Canada) limited warranty. The results have been significant. The Power Promise played a pivotal role in propelling Ford to its best-ever EV sales quarter—Q4 2024, with 30,176 EVs sold, as customers increasingly valued the convenience and cost savings of charging at home. Many customers have expressed strong appreciation for the program. One quoted Ford owner from Wisconsin remarked, “This program is awesome… I wouldn’t own an electric vehicle yet without the ability to charge at home… I can just unplug and go!”. Looking beyond the U.S., Ford has begun rolling out Power Promise-like offerings in other markets, including Ireland, Canada, the UK, and Germany, adapting to regional preferences but maintaining the same focus on home charging, support, and convenience.
Overall, Ford’s Power Promise underscores the company’s commitment to electrification by proactively addressing the practical challenges of EV ownership—making home charging accessible, seamless, and worry-free. By offering hardware, installation, support, warranty, and access to charging networks, it provides users with both the tools and confidence to fully embrace the electric lifestyle.
