Lexie Alford, also known by her social media handle @LexieLimitless, made history last year with an audacious goal—to become the first person to circumnavigate the globe in an electric vehicle. Her journey, called Charge Around the Globe, was an attempt to cover over 29,000 kilometers in 90 days, all while driving a pre-production Ford Explorer EV. What started as an ambitious project quickly evolved into a global odyssey that took Lexie over six continents, 27 countries, and more than 30,000 kilometers in just 200 days.

A three-part documentary series is now available on Prime Video that follows Lexie’s incredible adventure. The series captures every moment, from the highs of meeting inspirational figures to the lows of battling unreliable charging infrastructure. With a camera crew in tow, Lexie traveled across stunning landscapes, including the Atacama Desert in Chile and the Himalayan peaks of Bhutan.

The documentary also highlights the importance of EV infrastructure in the push for zero-emission driving. As Lexie encountered charging challenges in different parts of the world, her experience exposed how uneven the availability of EV chargers is globally. But despite the setbacks, the series shows Lexie’s determination to continue her mission.

One of the key figures who inspired Lexie’s journey was Aloha Wanderwell, the first woman to drive around the world in the 1920s in a Ford Model T. In the documentary, Lexie reflects on the challenges Aloha must have faced without modern technology and infrastructure, showcasing archival footage from Aloha’s historic trip.

Charge Around the Globe is a must-watch for anyone intrigued by the potential of electric vehicles and how they could shape the future of long-distance travel. The documentary also features a series of compelling interviews with extraordinary individuals Lexie met along her travels, from indigenous chefs to female athletes breaking barriers in male-dominated sports.
