The Ford Mustang is the world’s best selling sports car and has retained a loyal fan base for decades. For this coming model year, Ford is adding more options for customization to the popular vehicle by releasing two new available packages– the Stealth Appearance Package and the GT Performance Package.
The Stealth Appearance Package is available for the Ecoboost Premium model of the Mustang, and will give drivers a unique, sinister take on the Mustang with black details, including Ebony Black-painted aluminum wheels, black pony badges, black mirror caps and new clear LED taillamp covers, which can be found in the new Mustang Ice White Appearance Package as well. The interior includes a matte and gloss black instrument panel badge and lighted sill plate.The Stealth Edition is available in four exterior colors– Atlas Blue, Carbonized Gray, Dark Matter and Shadow Black.
Based on the 2022 GT Premium fastback and convertible models, the newest California Special Appearance Package takes inspiration from the original version, with its blacked out grille and racing stripes. A “GT/CS” side stripe runs from the front fender to the rear fender scoop. The trunk lid gets a California Special badge in Ebony Black and Race Red, and the grille is in a honeycomb style with a “GT/CS” badge. For the fastback model, a performance rear wing from the GT Performance Package is available. The interior features black accents on the door inserts and seats with a “GT/CS” logo and red contrast stitching, and embroidered “GT/CS” floor mats. The California Special is now available in Atlas Blue, Carbonized Gray, Cyber Orange, Dark Matter, Grabber Blue Metallic, Iconic Silver, Rapid Red, Shadow Black and Oxford White.
The GT Performance Package is designed to increase handleability and driving dynamics for a unique experience in the California Special, adding features such as Brembo six-piston front brake calipers, overall lower ride height, K-brace, front subframe V-brace, TORSEN limited-slip differential, unique stability control and electric power steering tuning. 19x9-inch front wheels and 19x9.5-inch rear wheels with Pirelli summer tires increase the handling even more.
Mustang brand marketing manager Jim Owens remarked about the new packages, “Since 1965, Mustang has been synonymous with performance and play, and the 2022 model year continues that call with the new Stealth Edition and an updated Cali Special. Mustang owners have always loved personalizing their ride, and these new flavors of Mustang are ready to inspire and excite new enthusiasts.”
Orders for the 2022 Mustang will open later this year. Vehicles are expected to begin arriving in showrooms in the first quarter of 2022.
