Ford Performance is turning up the heat for performance enthusiasts and off-road racers alike with the debut of two powerhouse crate engines for 2025: the Megazilla 2.0 and a new supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote. These high-output V8 engines push boundaries in both raw capability and engineering, offering unprecedented horsepower and torque in both competition and street-legal formats.

The Megazilla 2.0: A Monster for the Track and Trail

The Megazilla 2.0 builds upon the foundation of Ford’s already formidable 7.3-liter “Godzilla” V8, but significantly raises the stakes by adding a Gen 6 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger. This forced-induction setup catapults the output from an already impressive 615 horsepower in its naturally aspirated form to over 1,000 horsepower in the new configuration — a game-changer for serious performance builds.

Engineered for competition use only, the Megazilla 2.0 is tailored for extreme environments, including desert racing, off-road challenges, and drag strips. It’s not just about power — it’s about endurance under intense conditions. To ensure reliability and strength, Ford outfitted the engine with high-end performance internals: forged pistons, Callies H-beam connecting rods, a steel crankshaft, CNC-ported aluminum cylinder heads, and upgraded valve springs.

This engine retains the rugged cast-iron block of the original Godzilla, adding to its durability and torque-friendly nature. Weighing in at approximately 673 pounds, it’s certainly a heavyweight, but one that’s built to take punishment. Ford Performance is expected to offer the Megazilla 2.0 for around $33,000, with availability anticipated in late 2025 through Ford dealers and the Ford Performance Parts network.

While its massive output and hardcore build quality put it out of reach for street use, the Megazilla 2.0 is designed with motorsports enthusiasts in mind — those looking to swap in something explosive for race-dedicated vehicles.

Supercharged 5.0L Coyote: Street-Legal Performance with Attitude

For those craving serious horsepower in a street-legal package, Ford’s other big reveal answers the call: a supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8, derived from the same base engine found in the Mustang Dark Horse. This engine package delivers around 810 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque — figures that rival many exotic sports cars — all while being emissions-compliant for road use.

This Coyote variant is ideal for builders and customizers who want a modern powertrain that’s both ready to roar and legal to run. Ford engineered this version for balance: performance that thrills without crossing over into the purely race-spec territory of the Megazilla 2.0.

Like its off-road cousin, the supercharged Coyote uses a Gen 5 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger paired with a water-to-air intercooler system for maximum efficiency and cooling. The engine is built with forged internals for added strength and durability under high boost, and is designed to integrate easily into a wide range of vehicle platforms, particularly street builds and restomods.

The street Coyote engine is more accessible in both pricing and practicality. While exact pricing wasn’t revealed, it’s expected to be more affordable than the Megazilla 2.0 and should be available via Ford Performance Parts by late 2025. With emissions compliance and a plug-and-play design for many applications, it's poised to become a favorite among performance shops and serious DIY builders alike.

A New Era of Ford Crate Power

Together, the Megazilla 2.0 and the Supercharged 5.0L Coyote crate engines represent a powerful leap forward for Ford Performance. They offer two different pathways to high horsepower: one focused on the limits of competition and one optimized for everyday performance enthusiasts who want modern reliability with insane output.

These engines not only showcase Ford’s dedication to performance but also expand the range of possibilities for tuners, racers, and restoration experts. Whether you're aiming for the drag strip, the dunes, or the street, Ford’s latest crate engine lineup brings factory-backed power into your garage — no compromises necessary.

With both engines slated to hit the market in late 2025, anticipation is already building across the custom and racing communities. Ford Performance continues to push the envelope, offering versatile, powerful solutions that deliver both thrill and dependability — on and off the road.
