Last week, Ford debuted the Bronco Raptor as its new performance-driven off-roader. It is more powerful and rugged than a standard Bronco, due to a number of elite off-road features and hardware. To really show how the Bronco Raptor has the means to take the off-road SUV to new heights, three Bronco 4600 racers all easily won in the 2022 King of the Hammers with a 1-2-3 completion.
Earning the highest score was the No. 2567 Bronco 4600, with Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Loren Healey working as the drivers. Brothers Lovell and Roger Lovell drove the No. 4621 Bronco 4600 to second place, while Bailey Cole and Jason Scherer drove the No. 13 Bronco 4600 to a third-place finish.
All the Bronco 4600 race vehicles work as an experiment for Ford Licensed Accessories and Ford Performance, as well as independent performance aftermarket parts. They started off as factory stock Bronco two-doors with the Sasquatch Package, giving power from a race-centric 2.7-liter EcoBoost twin-turboV6 engine. The Bronco 4600 racing vehicles also feature a second-generation T-6 chassis and a SelectShift 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Bronco 4600 is built with a competition-tuned High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS) System. This advanced system features Fox unique coil shocks with remote reservoirs, Fox pneumatic bump stops, and Wilwood Engineering brakes. The Bronco 4600 rests on Method Race 202 Forged Beadlock wheels with 35-inch BFGoodrich mud-terrain T/A KM3 tires.
Additional tech for the Bronco 4600 includes 74 Weld front-portal hubs, Triton Engineering control arms, a Howe hydraulic steering rack, RCV custom half-shafts, Triton Engineering rear links, Dynatrac ProRock XD60 axle, ARB 35-spline Air Locker and Spidertrax Spider 9 axle shafts and hubs.
The SUVs also provide Ford Performance modified front and rear modular steel bumpers, Warn ZEON winch, RIGID LED off-road lights, Geiser Brothers custom roll cage and first-ever FIA off-road-certified Recaro race shells.
